The Stanley Park Inn has a privileged location in the western edge of the West End in an extremely quiet, safe neighbourhood. The West End is an historic residential quarter situated on a peninsula between Vancouver’s cosmopolitan downtown centre to the east, English Bay to the south and Stanley Park to the west.
The well-treed West End is a lively but still laid back district that has all the necessities for city living: coffee bars, specialty shops, cafés and restaurants, a small shopping galleria, cinema, grocery stores, a community centre and three gyms. On Denman Street there are many places to rent bikes and roller blades to experience Vancouver’s “great outdoors” at ground level.
Stanley Park is surrounded by a 10-kilometer (six mile) promenade sea wall with separated paths for cycling, in-line skating, jogging and walking. Secluded, well-maintained trails and pathways thread the forest and park, providing easy access to beaches, fine restaurants, the Vancouver Aquarium, an 18-hole pitch and putt golf course and several tennis courts, as well as many beautiful gardens that are tended by the Vancouver Park Board’s professional gardeners.
A walk along the West End’s tree lined side streets – or along the city’s busy shopping, latte sipping and people-watching stroll, Robson Street, takes you to the heart of downtown in 20 minutes. The bus will take you there in five.
Vancouver weather is mild year round, but sometimes wet due to the coastal location. Spring weather starts early in late February and is bursting with cherry and plum blossoms and flowers. Summer is normally sunny and warm (20 to 25C (68 to 75F) with cool breezes in the evening. Fall is generally bright and crisp until November, when winter light and cool take hold. Whenever you come, Vancouver is green and beautiful -- and you’ll find a warm welcome at the Stanley Park Inn. |
